Speech Limited

It is an interesting phase for the Indian media. With blogs, wikis and other new age media platforms emerging, media conglomerates in India are busy charting plans to churn these into viable revenue streams. However, what they are not able to digest is the bitter after-taste of blogs which have spewed vicious venom on many of their senior editors and reporters. One of the most keenly watched blogs in recent times - MediaMamu - shut down mysteriously one day. Media circles cite 'history' repeating itself and how journalists are coerced into silence from the powers that be. It is indeed a sad state of affairs in a democracy where the Fourth Estate epitomises Freedom of Speech to the masses and practises feudal dictatorship behind the scenes. But as they say 'Life finds a way'. Scene I ends. Chapter II begins...
